Pulse of the City

by George Zisiadis Art Team

A unique interactive public art installation, Pulse of the City has been designed to transform the heartbeats of the pedestrians into music. Comprising a large red heart accompanied by a speaker, it has handles mounted on a pole in the sidewalk. The device starts working when visitors hold onto the handles and takes their real-time pulse data to generate the output of heartbeats layered over with custom music. Pulse of the City has won the SXSW Interactive Award of 2013.

"This is a truly unique project that connects Boston's residents and visitors to art in a whole new way," said Tom Menino, Mayor of Boston.
